چکیده

We present a concept for facilitating the development of agent applications called agent usage patterns. These patterns are meant to bridge the conceptual gap that currently exists between the programmer and agent-based middleware systems. We analyze each pattern's potential for improving performance, reliability, and security. Finally, we describe some preliminary experiments: we present a stock-trading distributed application whose agent-based implementation results in reduced communication delay.

Experiencing AUML for the WINK Multi-Agent System

In the last few years, efforts have been done towards bridging the gap between agent technology and de facto standard technologies, aiming at introducing multi-agent systems in industrial applications. This paper presents an experience done by using one of such proposals, Agent UML. Agent UML is a graphical modelling language based on UML. The practical usage of this notation has brought to sug...

An agent-based layered middleware as tool integration∗

Applications based on coordination and orchestration of human/system activities are more and more present in our nowadays life. They often need the coherent composition of components, services and data from heterogeneous sources. Moreover, the increasing number of (often conflicting) attributes makes the design of these complex applications very difficult. We tackle the problem of tool integrat...

Feasibility Analysis of Achieving Mobile Agents for Wireless Sensor Network based on LooCI

Distributed sensing in combination with wireless communication techniques and self-organising deployment approaches enable Wireless Sensors Networks (WSN) to play a crucial role in our daily life. An increasing number of dynamic sensing applications have been developed, and there is a growing demand for middleware to bridge the gap between these applications and a diverse range of underlying op...

Conceptual and concrete architectures in the design of CSCW applications

— CSCW applications support the development of various types of cooperative applications and their integration. However, little attention has been paid to the gap between the semantic level of articulation work and the semantic level of the implementation platform. This semantic level gap is widely recognized in CSCW as a big source of problems from the application usability point of view. The ...
